  • The timestamp of your submission

We use this information only to send you a one-time notification when MotoMM becomes available in the App Store and Google Play. We do not use this email address for any other marketing communications without separate, explicit consent.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate you and secure your account
  • Match you with other riders based on your stated preferences
  • Record and display your rides
  • Deliver Crash Detection alerts to your designated emergency contact and crash buddies when a possible crash is detected
  • Send transactional notifications (email verification, password reset, account changes, crash alerts)
  • Verify profile photo authenticity using face analysis
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to security issues, fraud, and abuse

We do not use your personal information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. How We Share Information

4.1 With other MotoMM users

Information you make visible on your profile (nickname, profile photos, bikes, demographics where you choose to display them) is visible to other users of the Service as designed by the matching and social features.

4.2 With service providers

We use third-party service providers to operate the Service. These providers process your information only as necessary to deliver the services they provide to us, under written agreements that prohibit other uses:

  • Twilio (United States): SMS and voice call dispatch for the Crash Detection feature. Receives the name and phone number of your designated emergency contact, your name, the timestamp and GPS coordinates of the detected crash event, and your phone number (where available).
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google, United States): Push notification delivery. Receives device tokens and notification payloads.
  • Cloudflare (United States): Content delivery network for photos. Receives photo URLs and viewer IP addresses.
  • iDrive e2 / S3-compatible storage (European Union): Storage of profile photos, ride photos, and other user-uploaded content.
  • Shared infrastructure operated by Hudolini (European Union): Hosting of databases (MariaDB, MongoDB), message queues (RabbitMQ), face analysis (Triton inference), real-time channels (Centrifugo), and routing services (GraphHopper).
  • Apple and Google identity services: Verification of social sign-in tokens when you use Apple ID or Google to log in.
  • Loops (Loops Software, Inc., United States): Email-list management for the website launch-notification list (see section 2.7). Receives only the email address you submit through the form on motomm.com and the timestamp of your submission, used solely to send you a one-time notification when MotoMM becomes available in the App Store and Google Play.

4.3 With legal authorities

We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or other legal process; to protect the rights, safety, or property of MotoMM, our users, or the public; or in connection with a legal investigation.

4.4 With your emergency contact and crash buddies (Crash Detection)

When you enable Crash Detection, your designated emergency contact will receive an SMS and voice call (containing your name, the timestamp, and GPS coordinates of the detected crash event) when a possible crash is detected during your active ride recording. Crash buddies, if any, will receive an in-app notification containing the same information.

4.5 Mobile phone number non-sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number, or the mobile phone number of any emergency contact you designate, with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile phone numbers are shared only with Twilio, our SMS and voice dispatch service provider, solely for the purpose of delivering Crash Detection alerts on your behalf.

5. SMS Communications

If you enable Crash Detection and configure an emergency contact, that contact may receive SMS messages from us via our service provider Twilio.

One-time verification SMS (opt-in). When a MotoMM rider designates a phone number as their emergency contact, we send that number a single verification SMS identifying the rider, describing what they are being asked to receive, and instructing them to reply YES to confirm or STOP to decline. No crash alert SMS or voice call is ever dispatched to a number until that number has replied YES. The verification SMS itself is a one-off; if the recipient does not reply, no further messages are sent.

Message frequency after opt-in. Recipients who reply YES receive messages only when a possible crash event is automatically detected during the rider’s active ride recording, or when the rider manually triggers a crash alert. The typical recipient receives zero messages from MotoMM in a year. The maximum is 5 crash alerts per rider per 30-day rolling window.

Opt-out. Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from the MotoMM number. STOP is honored immediately and permanently for that number, both at the platform level by Twilio and within MotoMM’s own dispatch system. Reply HELP for support contact information. Standard message and data rates may apply to messages sent and received.

Mobile numbers are never shared with third parties for marketing. The number you provide as an emergency contact is processed by Twilio solely to deliver the verification SMS and any subsequent crash alerts you have opted into. It is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party other than Twilio.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, except where shorter retention applies:

  • Crash event records and Twilio dispatch logs: 90 days, after which records are anonymized (identifying details removed; aggregate statistics retained).
  • Sessions and refresh tokens: Subject to token expiry policies; revoked sessions are deleted after 90 days.
  • Activity log entries (in-app feed events): 180 days, then automatically deleted via database time-to-live policies.
  • Verification job records: 90 days, then automatically deleted.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information from our active systems within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements (e.g., transaction records). Backups may retain a copy of your information for up to 90 additional days before final deletion.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Erasure: request deletion of your personal information (the “right to be forgotten”)

  • Restriction: request that we limit certain processing of your information
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw any consent you previously provided
  • Lodge a complaint: file a complaint with your local data protection authority

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 14. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: account creation, ride recording, matching and social features
  • Consent: Crash Detection feature activation, social login linking, optional marketing communications (currently not used)
  • Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, service improvement, communication with users about service-essential matters
  • Compliance with legal obligations: where required by applicable law

You may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing conducted before the withdrawal.

9. EU Representative

In accordance with Article 27 of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”), we have appointed the following entity as our representative in the European Union for matters relating to the processing of personal information of individuals located in the EU, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland:

Some of our service providers are located in the United States. When we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland to the United States or other countries outside of those regions, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and supplementary measures where required.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have collected information about a person under 18, contact us at the address in Section 14.

12. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive data, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. No security measure is perfect; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. The “Last updated” date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
